Materials List

Required supplies:

  • Dog (or other animal) to do the painting
  • Paints (any kind will work since the dog won't be touching them, but water-based paint is recommended so you can easily wash it off your hands)
  • Peanut butter, wet dog food, or some other food for the dog to lick
  • Sandwich bag or plastic wrap (to put the painting in while the dog licks the food)
  • Scissors
  • Shape that you are going to paint
  • Surface for your painting to dry (as the painting dries, some paint will run down the sides so pick something it won't stick to)

Supplies that are nice to have:

  • Paint pen or marker (to write the dog's name and the date on the back)
  • Paper plate (to put a piece of wax paper on for the painting to dry so you can easily move it)
  • Plastic gloves (helpful to wear after the dog is done and you need to get the painting out and set to dry)
  • Toothpick(s) (to clean out any holes or areas that get clogged with paint)
  • Wax paper (for the painting to dry on)
